Cowichan Valley Community Hub
Project type
Conceptual Master Plan
Date
2015
Location
Cowichan Valley, BC
A proposed a re-imaging of the abandoned railway corridor through the town of Duncan in the Cowichan Valley, British Columbia into a pedestrian and cyclist path. The new multimodal path is anchored by three new community buildings including:
• A new community cultural center, workshop space, and natural public swimming facility on the Cowichan River
• A new farmer's market pavilion and town square event space
• A new food education center with community growing garden and commercial kitchen
The path and community hubs are intended to reconnect parts of the city that are currently isolated. They also provide sorely-needed amenities to contribute to the local economy and community growth.
